Hospital has opened human milk bank under Department of Paediatrics . Main idea is simple but very important ah,help newborn babies who cannot suckle-feed because of different medical conditions.
According to Dr. R. Ramanathan ,the Professor and Head of the Department of Paediatrics,this milk bank will support vulnerable infants,especially babies whose mothers are not able to produce enough breast milk . And for such families,this is not small thing.
The focus is mainly on low-birth-weight infants,critically ill newborns and orphaned infants . These are babies who already start life with extra risk,and not getting proper breast milk can make things worse.
