IIT Delhi Maintains Top Position in QS World University Rankings 2027

Key Takeaways

  • IIT Delhi ranks 118th globally in QS rankings
  • Indian universities show rising global influence
  • MIT retains top position in world university rankings

Just saw new QS World University Rankings 2027 and honestly,it’s such good news for Indian universities . IIT Delhi is again at top in India and has improved its global rank also.

It has climbed five spots this year to hit 118th position globally . And this is for second consecutive year that it’s India’s top university. Not small thing ah .

What really stood out for me was IIT Delhi's research score . Its overall score was 65.7 points, but the citations per faculty was a massive 97.3. This basically means their research is getting noticed and used lot internationally.

And it’s not just about one institute only . Other IITs have also done very well. IIT Bombay is at 134th,IIT Madras is at 170th,and even IISc Bangalore is at 221st position . It feels like positive trend for our higher education system.

And tbh, this is where things feel hopeful.

The presence of so many Indian institutes in top tiers shows our academic environment is getting more competitive and focused on innovation .

Few things to remember from this ranking:

  • IIT Delhi is India's top university again, ranking 118th globally.
  • Its research impact is huge, with 97.3 score for citations per faculty.
  • Other major institutions like IIT Bombay,IIT Madras, and IISc are also highly ranked.

But at same time,we have to see the global picture . The top spots are still dominated by big names from US and UK. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is number one, followed by Imperial College London and Stanford University . So the competition is very tough .

This success of IIT Delhi and others is definitely a testament to growing influence of Indian academia in research and education . It’s a proud moment.

Still,it makes you wonder what the next big step is . How do we push from top 150 into top 50,or even higher… What will it take to get there…
