So I just saw this news about a huge music festival coming to Hyderabad on June 21, 2026 and it sounds amazing . It’s for World Music Day,they are calling it Fête de la Musique.
And whole idea is to use music as one universal language to bring everyone together . A really nice thought, especially rn.
This whole thing is being produced by Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad and Alliance Française . And they are also working with local groups like Dark Vibe Society and George Hull Collective, which is great to see. It’s not just some big international thing, they are involving local talent also.
Performances are going to be at different places, including Next Galleria mall and EXT Film Nagar . And variety of music is just wild… everything from Carnatic prog-rock to jazz and pop. Something for everyone,I guess.
And honestly, this is where things get really good. Amita Desai, who is founder-director of Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad, said something that really stood out to me: “We are in dire need of being together and coming together,of coexisting harmoniously, and that is purpose of music.” That hits hard ah.
Few key things about this festival:
- Diverse musical performances with mix of genres like jazz, pop, and even folk .
- Free entry with no registration needed,so it’s open for all.
- Special Hyderabad Voices concert blending national pride and music.
But it's not just about the music only . It's also about cultural exchange between German,French and Indian groups . Amita Desai also said,“For Goethe-Zentrum Hyderabad,World Music Day has always been about cultural exchange in its truest sense.”
They even have this group called Hyderabad Voices performing . They are apparently going to sing the National Anthem in harmony, which sounds very cool. This group has around 75 singers from all different backgrounds.
And this group is getting ready for other concerts too on June 19 and June 27 . Their playlist is going to have classics from The Beatles and Queen, plus traditional Indian songs. This kind of mix is what makes Hyderabad’s music scene so special.
It just feels like this is kind of event cities need more of . Not just big ticketed concerts, but something open and for the community… wonder if it will really change the vibe in the city for that day…
