Looks like some very interesting Hindi theatre is coming to Mysuru this weekend . And it’s not local talent,it’s group called Abhinay Gurukul all way from Jodhpur.
So the Indian Institute of Educational Theatre (IIET) is hosting this showcase on June 20 and 21 . Both days the show starts at 6:00 p.m. at IIET place on Hardwick School Campus,JLB Road.
And they are staging two different plays, both sound really thought-provoking. The first one is called Album . It's about 34-year-old woman,Manjari, who is taking care of her aging father .
While cleaning house she finds an old family album and all memories come flooding back . The story is supposed to be about love, sacrifice, and a parent's support. Sounds so touching ah. It’s written by Raghunandan Trivedi and directed by Aru Swati Vyas.
And honestly, this is the kind of story that hits you right in the feels.
Then there is second play,Sankraman, which sounds a bit more intense . This one is about generational conflict inside a family, from perspective of a father, son, and mother. Also directed by Aru Swati Vyas, based on works of late Kamtanath.
It’s a 75-minute play where father wants acknowledgment for his sacrifices, but son challenges his worldview . And the mother is trying to be a bridge between them. Tbh,this sounds very real and something many families go through.
Few key details about the event:
- First play: Album — explores family memories and unconditional love .
- Second play: Sankraman — examines generational conflict within a family.
- Tickets priced at ₹100 — available on BookMyShow for both performances.
Even Cheluvaraj of IIET said that these plays will connect deeply with audiences of all ages because the themes are so universal . And he is right, family drama is something everyone understands.
The tickets are just ₹100 only, which is really good price for live theatre . You can book them on BookMyShow. It's nice to see events like this being made so accessible.
I wonder if plays like these make people reflect on their own family situations… or if it's just two hours of entertainment before everyone goes back to their own lives…
