This interview from Shoba Chandrasekhar honestly feels more emotional than political . Vijay may have just taken oath as ninth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, but hearing his mother speak about what he went through makes whole journey feel very heavy.
Shoba Chandrasekhar, mother of Vijay, opened up about challenges he faced while moving from film superstar life into politics . And that shift is not small thing ah,because public love in cinema and public pressure in politics are two very different worlds.
She spoke about recent election campaign and how pressure, criticism and constant attacks affected him . At one point, she said,“I was very scared. He had stepped into a very difficult space, and I didn’t know how he would handle it.”
And honestly, that line says lot . Behind big rallies, party flags and victory speeches, family members are also sitting with fear, watching everything happen from close distance .
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Shoba said Vijay had to face much of political pressure largely on his own.
- She compared this struggle with early days of his acting career.
- Vijay's party,TVK,won 108 seats in its first assembly election.
Vijay's political journey officially began in 2024 when he launched TVK . In just two years, party turned into major force in Tamil Nadu politics, which is quite fast by any standard.
With support from political allies, including Indian National Congress,Vijay's coalition secured total of 120 seats in assembly . That result eventually led to his election as Chief Minister .
But tbh, what Shoba is saying also shows another side of public service . Everyone sees power and position, but not many see sleepless nights, personal doubts, family tension and pressure of being judged every single day.
She also mentioned that Vijay has this ability to take criticism and turn it into motivation . Maybe that comes from his film career only, where he already faced failures, judgment and comeback moments .
And now as he starts this new chapter as Chief Minister, question is not just how he will handle politics, but how much personal cost comes with it for him and people around him…
