On June 21,2026,Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar joined celebration at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore, and crowd was quite big too.
And he spoke about yoga as India's timeless gift to humanity, rooted in wisdom of sage Patanjali . That line itself sounds traditional, but his main point was pretty simple. Yoga is not just bending body or doing few asanas for camera,it is also about mental harmony and overall well-being.
There were over 1,500 students and faculty members present, and that is not small thing ah . Arlekar told them clearly,"Yoga is not for one day; it must be practiced every day." And honestly, that is probably most practical line from whole event.
Along with Governor, secretary to the Governor Sajjansingh R. Chavan and TNAU acting Vice-Chancellor Subrahmaniyan Kasirajan were also present . Event had different yoga asanas, and idea seemed to be that anyone, from young students to older people, can take part if they want .
Few things stood out clearly from this event:
- Yoga is recognized worldwide for its health benefits.
- Arlekar stressed daily practice, not just International Yoga Day participation .
- Over 1,500 students and faculty members joined session at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore.
But celebrations did not stop at TNAU only . Events also happened at Sainik School Amaravathinagar, where Principal Captain (Indian Navy) Rahul Thiyyath led participants through various yoga asanas, and session ended with meditation.
At Bharathiar University, more than 500 NSS volunteers also performed yoga . That part shows how these events are becoming more community-driven now,not just restricted to official halls or one stage .
And then Isha Foundation also organized yoga sessions at approximately 1,000 locations across country, with around 500 sessions held in Tamil Nadu alone . Their sessions included themes like “Miracle of Mind,”and were made accessible in six languages, which is actually useful if they want more people to connect with it.
Tbh,the nice part is that message stayed same everywhere, daily wellness, physical fitness, mental clarity and discipline . But real question is always same after such big events end… how many people actually continue from next morning?
