This time focus is on Ganderbal district,where preparations are happening for annual Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela and upcoming Amarnath Yatra .
Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela is scheduled for June 22,2026,and many devotees are expected to visit Kheer Bhawani Temple in Tulmulla . So obviously police cannot take any chance here,especially with pilgrims,locals and visitors all coming into same area.
Authorities have already carried out area domination exercises around temple side to create safer atmosphere . And honestly,in places like this,security is not just about checking one gate only,it becomes whole movement management thing.
At same time,highway surveillance has also been increased on Ganderbal-Baltal route because this route matters for Amarnath Yatra (SANJY)-2026,which is set to begin on July 3 . Police personnel are checking vehicles and keeping close watch at key points along Yatra route.
Few things standing out in this security build-up:
- Advanced Security Tasking (AST) exercises have been conducted at strategic locations for better coordination among security agencies .
- Thorough vehicle checks are being done for pilgrims travelling to temple.
- Detailed security assessment was carried out by IGP V.K. Birdi and other officials for access control and crowd management .
On June 21,IGP Kashmir Zone,V.K. Birdi,along with DIG Central Kashmir Range Rajiv Omprakash Pande and SSP Ganderbal Sudhanshu Dhama,visited temple to review arrangements . They looked at crowd management measures,parking areas and overall security framework .
Birdi also told officers to maintain high vigilance and coordination,and asked them to ensure foolproof security . He also spoke about proper traffic management and timely services around temple and nearby areas,which honestly becomes very important when crowds start building.
And this is where coordination between departments really matters ah . One weak point in traffic,parking,entry checking or crowd flow can create big problem during such gatherings .
For devotees,it should ideally feel peaceful and smooth . But behind that calm atmosphere,there is clearly lot of pressure on police and administration right now… will all arrangements hold when actual crowd reaches?
