Politics in West Bengal is getting really heated up now ah . The latest is Dilip Ghosh firing shots directly at former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and it’s not just about policy .
He went after her recent claim that 70% of houses in Gujarat are illegal . And his response was very direct,he asked "Did she go and check it herself whether it is legal or illegal?" which is basically calling her out for making things up.
And honestly,he didn't stop there only . He even suggested that her own house might not be completely legal, which is a very personal attack.
But then he also commented on her big protest in Kolkata . According to him,the crowd wasn't massive at all,it was "forced" . He said,"Neither the party’s MPs nor MLAs attended," suggesting that real party leaders were missing and crowd was just for show.
And tbh, this is where things get really messy.
On other side,Banerjee's protest was her reaction to what she says are attacks on Trinamool Congress workers after election results . She is not taking this lying down, she even said "For us,it’s a do-or-die battle." That's very strong language.
Few things standing out clearly in this situation:
- Ghosh challenged Banerjee's claim about 70% illegal housing in Gujarat.
- He alleged her protest turnout was low and "forced" without senior leaders .
- Banerjee has declared the fight against BJP a "do-or-die battle" for her party.
She also made point that former leaders like Jyoti Basu and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee never had to face this kind of public dissent after losing elections . It seems she feels the political culture has changed for worse.
And it looks like she faced problems even organizing the protest . Her request for a preferred venue and permissions was apparently denied, which shows how deep the friction is right now in state politics .
This whole thing feels like it's just the beginning of a long fight . With both sides using such strong words,it's hard to see how things will cool down anytime soon…
