A city court on June 19, 2026 remanded Dr . Manish Gupta,a dermatologist,in police custody for two days after his arrest for alleged murder of his domestic help,Mina Halder .
Police found Halder's lifeless body at Gupta's residence in Mount Kailash . Gupta was reportedly present at scene itself, which immediately raised suspicion and led to his quick arrest . That detail alone makes whole thing feel very heavy.
During court proceedings, police asked for his custody so they could check if anyone else was involved and also understand what exactly happened before murder . Deputy Commissioner of Police Hemant Tiwari said,"We had asked for his custody to interrogate him and look into all aspects of the crime, including whether it was planned or committed on the spur of the moment."
But defense side pushed back, pointing to Gupta's mental health issues and his earlier reputation as well-respected medical professional . And this is where case becomes even more complicated, because public image and alleged crime are standing in completely opposite directions.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Halder was reportedly bludgeoned and stabbed, with police recovering bat and knife believed to be used in attack.
- Gupta has history of psychological disorders, which defense is using as major point in case.
- Neighbors described Gupta as kind man, raising questions about sudden violent behavior.
According to reports,Halder suffered multiple stab wounds and blunt force trauma . Police confirmed recovery of bat and knife believed to be used in attack . This is not small thing ah,especially when violence described is so brutal.
And then there is another painful part . Halder's family expressed distress over police handling of her body, alleging they were rushed to perform last rites without proper time for mourning . For any family, that kind of feeling after losing someone so violently must be unbearable.
A neighbor who alerted authorities reportedly described Gupta as disoriented when confronted . The neighbor said Gupta confessed, saying,"Maine kar diya (I have done it)," which now raises more questions about his mental state at that exact moment.
And rn,case feels stuck between two disturbing sides — one woman dead in violent manner, and one doctor with mental health concerns accused of killing her . What actually happened inside that Mount Kailash residence before police arrived… that question is still hanging.
