Congress seems to be going full booth-level mode in coastal Karnataka now,and this June 23 convention in Mangaluru feels like clear preparation work before bigger political fights . Not flashy rally type thing,but these booth-level moves usually matter more than people think .
On June 23,Congress party will gather booth-level assistants (BLAs) from Dakshina Kannada,Chikkamagaluru,Udupi,and Uttara Kannada districts at Kudmul Rangarao Town Hall in Mangaluru . And honestly,1,912 polling booths from region is not small number ah.
During press conference held on Saturday,K. Harish Kumar,President of the Dakshina Kannada Congress Committee,sounded quite upbeat about event . He said large number of BLAs from region's 1,912 polling booths are expected to take part,and representatives from nearby districts will also come in.
From Chikkamagaluru,Udupi,and Uttara Kannada,twenty-five BLAs each will attend program . So this is not just Dakshina Kannada-only gathering,it is being shaped like wider coastal and Malnad coordination exercise.
And new president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee,B.K . Hariprasad,will be part of event and play key role in proceedings . That itself gives program more political weight,not just routine training meeting.
Senior Congress leader B . Ramanath Rai focused on voter list issue,and this part is actually serious . He said BLAs will be trained to help voters submit required documents for inclusion in electoral rolls,and his line was clear: "We will ensure that no valid voter is denied his or her right to vote."
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Training on electoral roll inclusion — BLAs will learn to assist voters with forms .
- Focus on voter rights — The party aims to ensure every eligible voter is registered.
- Comparison with other states — Rai criticized West Bengal's SIR process,praising Kerala's effectiveness.
And tbh,this voter list work may sound boring from outside,but at ground level,this is where parties either gain trust or lose people quietly . If someone's name is missing from rolls,no speech or slogan helps that person on polling day.
Kumar also welcomed Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar's announcement about upcoming Cabinet meeting in Mangaluru . He said Shivakumar is committed to development of Coastal Karnataka and has asked officials to look into Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms and other technical issues blocking progress in region .
But now real question is whether all this training,meetings and promises on CRZ issues will actually translate into visible ground action,or whether people will again be left waiting after convention noise fades…
