Okay,so this is something else entirely . A hackathon for making films with AI,happening right now in India. And it’s not some small thing ah,it's being launched by big names.
The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and LTM have started this CinemAI Hackathon . It's a 48-hour challenge which began on June 18,at same time as Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF). Pretty cool timing.
And it seems people are very interested . Over 180 registrations came in from all over the country . We’re talking filmmakers, storytellers, tech people, and content creators all wanting to try this.
But the whole point of this hackathon is to ask a very deep question . Can creativity be programmed,or does it only come from human imagination?
And honestly, that’s question that gives me a bit of a headache.
The goal is to get everyone to create original short films but using AI-driven tools at different stages . So maybe AI helps with the script,or editing,or even creating visuals. The theme for this year's hackathon is also something everyone is watching .
Few key things about this event:
- It's 48-hour challenge to make short films with AI .
- Launched by NFDC and LTM,coinciding with MIFF .
- Has attracted over 180 participants from creative and tech fields .
This entire thing feels like huge experiment in filmmaking . For years,we've talked about the director's vision, the writer's heart . Now we're bringing an algorithm into that room.
Tbh,I am very curious to see the final films that come out of this . Will they feel different? Will they have that human touch,or will you be able to tell a machine was involved?
It's a big step for Indian cinema and for creators everywhere . But is it the right step… or just a new toy to play with…
