Finally some big action is being taken against all this AI-generated nonsense using celebrity faces . Preity Zinta has now got green light from Bombay High Court to go after platforms like Meta and Google .
And honestly,it’s about time.
She has alleged that these platforms are creating and spreading content using her likeness which is damaging her reputation . This is not small thing ah,it's about her personality rights and copyright.
The court acknowledged this is complicated case, especially since some of these companies are not based in Mumbai . But Justice Abhay Ahuja rightly pointed out that legal action is needed because this new AI technology is causing real problems for people's rights .
But this isn't the first time this has happened . We have seen other big stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Anil Kapoor also get court orders to protect their public image from misuse. So it seems Indian courts are slowly starting to understand the seriousness of this issue.
Few things to note here:
- Preity Zinta’s injunction suit is specifically targeting misuse of AI-generated content.
- This is a significant move, following similar cases from other major celebrities .
- This legal battle is happening as she is also working on her upcoming film ‘Batwara 1947’.
In her application,Zinta said this unauthorized use has caused "considerable harm" to her image and professional integrity . And tbh,you can imagine how stressful that must be.
It's also interesting that this is all happening while she is preparing for her new movie ‘Batwara 1947’ which is set to release on August 14,2026 . It's a reunion with director Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol,so it's big project for her.
This whole court ruling is basically her getting permission to start fight . The real battle begins now.
And with AI technology moving so fast, the legal system is playing catch-up only . This case could set a very important example for future disputes like this… but it's going to be a long road for sure.
