BTC has made one big move in Kokrajhar district, and honestly, this one feels like both development story and identity story mixed together . Council has approved acquisition of 400 bighas of land on southern side of Bismuri, and that is not small thing ah.
Decision came during recent Executive Council meeting held at BTC Secretariat . Members discussed different development initiatives there, and land purchase became main point because this area is now being looked at for future growth .
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary sounded hopeful about turning purchased land into greenfield area . Idea is to use it for infrastructure and economic growth in region, but of course, big plans always need proper money and execution also.
And at same time, council has also approved renovation of main gate of BTC Secretariat . This gate will include symbols honoring All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU),Bodo Liberation Tigers Force (BLTF),and National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB).
That part is clearly emotional for many people connected with Bodoland movement . Mohilary said these symbols are meant to recognize role of these organizations in Bodoland movement and their contribution to peace processes that led to establishment of BTC .
Few things standing out from this decision:
- BTC approved acquisition of 400 bighas of land on southern side of Bismuri in Kokrajhar district.
- Purchased land is planned as greenfield area for infrastructure and economic growth.
- Renovated BTC Secretariat gate will carry symbols of ABSU,BLTF,and NDFB.
Now next big question is funding . BTC administration is looking toward upcoming Assam Assembly Budget session for budgetary allocations, and they are expecting support from Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah and Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma .
Mohilary has already spoken about need for proper funds to make these plans real . Because buying land and announcing renovation is one step only, but actual development needs roads, planning, services and steady political backing.
And honestly, this is where things get interesting . BTC is trying to push Kokrajhar and nearby areas forward while also keeping memory of Bodoland movement visible in public spaces . Whether these plans actually improve daily life for residents or stay stuck in files… that question is still hanging.
