Just saw new ICC ODI rankings and wow,Abrar Ahmed has really done something special ah . Reaching fourth place is no small thing for spinner.
His performance against Australia was just brilliant to watch . He was consistently taking wickets, and those two-wicket hauls were so impactful during the series. Now he's sitting at 633 points which is a career-best for him . This really shows how much he has grown in limited-overs cricket.
And it’s not just Abrar . Pakistan's pace spearhead,Shaheen Shah Afridi, also climbed up the ladder. He moved up four places to 13th in ODI rankings after taking four wickets in that series. Good to see both spin and pace doing well.
But the competition was intense from other side also .
Australia’s Nathan Ellis had one massive jump . He went up 24 spots to land at 44th. And honestly, that’s because he took six wickets in just two matches which is amazing performance .
Few other big moves in cricket world rn:
- Rachin Ravindra breaks into Test top 10,hitting ninth place after that century .
- Matt Renshaw's scores of 43 and 61 pushed him over 100 places to 78th in ODIs.
- Tom Blundell scored 186 and moved up eight spots to 40th in Test rankings.
Speaking of Rachin Ravindra, that century of 121 against Ireland was something else . Getting into the top ten for first time is a huge milestone. This is great for New Zealand, especially with those World Test Championship matches against England coming up .
His teammate Tom Blundell also benefited from that match only, rising to 40th in the Test batting rankings.
These rankings are always changing so fast . It feels like every series brings new hero to the front. You see Abrar Ahmed and Rachin Ravindra setting these new benchmarks for themselves and their teams .
It just makes you wonder who is going to be the next big surprise in the rankings…
