This story about arson attacks on properties linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is just wild . And the whole thing being organised over Telegram is actually quite scary.
So two guys,Roman Lavrynovych and Stanislav Carpiuc,have been sentenced for this . Lavrynovych,who is only 22,got a seven-year prison term at Old Bailey . Carpiuc,27,got two years. The attacks all happened back in May 2025 .
And these weren't small incidents ah . They targeted a Toyota car Starmer used to own,flats he had lived in,and even his Kentish Town home . Imagine the terror for his family. His sister-in-law even described smoke filling their home during the trial.
But this is where story gets really strange .
The court found out Lavrynovych was recruited by some mysterious person on Telegram called "EL" . This EL person promised him money to carry out the attacks. The judge,Mr . Justice Garnham,literally called Lavrynovych a "useful idiot" for being so easily manipulated .
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Main accused was recruited by a mysterious Telegram user named "EL" for money .
- Multiple properties linked to PM were targeted,including his family home.
- The judge condemned Lavrynovych as a "useful idiot" manipulated into crime .
Carpiuc's role was apparently smaller,more of a financial supporter for Lavrynovych . He was arrested at Luton Airport trying to get on a flight to Romania . His lawyer said he was just trying to help friend with money problems,but trying to flee doesn't look good tbh.
And after arson,this "EL" person messaged Lavrynovych again,telling him to get rid of evidence and leave the city . But police raided his home and caught him pretty fast.
Honestly,this whole thing shows how dangerous online radicalisation can be . Someone sitting behind screen can just pay a young person to do something so destructive.
Cdr Helen Flanagan from Counter Terrorism Policing praised the quick investigation that identified them within days only . But it makes you think… who is this "EL" and what was their real motive? They got these two guys,but person pulling the strings is still out there somewhere…
