In Washington,D.C.,former President Donald Trump announced on June 21 that repairs may be needed because pool is still facing issues . This is after renovation work meant to make landmark look better for America's 250th anniversary .
Cost was not small ah . Renovation reportedly came to approximately $14.2 million, and it was supposed to improve overall look of reflecting pool. Trump even claimed pool had never looked better since its construction in 1922.
But now algae blooms, peeling paint and possible drainage are becoming main discussion . In post on Truth Social,Trump suggested contractors may have to drain much of water so repairs can be done quickly .
Few things standing out here:
- Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool may need drainage for repairs after algae blooms and peeling paint.
- Renovation cost approximately $14.2 million and was linked to America's 250th anniversary.
- Trump also alleged vandalism and said several individuals had been arrested, though specific details remain unclear .
And tbh, this is where whole thing becomes little messy . On one side,Trump is saying visual improvement was strong, especially with new dark blue bottom designed to make reflections of surrounding monuments look better. On other side, current condition is clearly drawing public scrutiny.
There is also this vandalism angle . Trump suggested some damage was because of vandalism, and authorities are looking into safety around pool area after such reports. One individual,a three-time Olympian, reportedly faced charges after touching piece of peeling paint, which sounds like very tense atmosphere around maintenance itself.
But bigger question is how such expensive renovation ran into these problems so soon . Algae is natural issue, yes, but peeling paint after major work will obviously make people ask uncomfortable questions .
And now if pool has to be drained again, public will want to know whether this is normal repair, poor execution,or just national landmark getting stuck between nature, politics and blame game…
