So some big news coming from Tamil Nadu's education sector . Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail,who is a very respected soil biologist,has stepped down as Chairman of State Curriculum Committee . This is not small thing ah.
Apparently,the decision came after directives from School Education Department . It looks like the current government wants to form its own new committee to handle future changes to school syllabus.
Dr. Ismail was appointed by the previous DMK government,so this feels like a very strategic political move . He confirmed he got the formal notification to leave the post .
And tbh,it's a bit sad because he seemed to be doing good work . He recently worked with former School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and they even presented newly developed textbooks for Classes I,II and III to M.K . Stalin.
He even posted on social media about it,saying,"I sincerely thank former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin,former School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and senior officials associated with the project for enabling the creation of beautiful set of textbooks for Term-I for Classes I,II and III."
And honestly,this is where things get a bit uncomfortable. Changing leadership in middle of such important work can disrupt things badly .
Few key things to note here:

- The state government is planning to set up completely new committee.
- His team had already completed and released new books for early classes .
But he has handled it with lot of grace . He even wished new team well,saying "I wish the new team all very best and hope they continue progressive approach that we initiated." That's a very professional way to handle things.
Right now,officials from Directorate of School Education are very quiet . They are not confirming or denying anything about who will be in the new panel . So everyone is just guessing if any of the old members will continue under a new leader or if it will be full reset.
This curriculum committee's work is very important for students' future . Whatever this new committee decides will affect lakhs of students across the state… so you just hope they get it right.
