One really strange case has come from Surat where a 36-year-old accountant,Jignesh Talaviya,was arrested for allegedly staging his own kidnapping . And honestly,this is one of those stories where first it looks scary,but then whole thing turns completely bizarre.
On June 12, 2026,Jignesh disappeared and his family filed missing person report at Utran Police Station . Soon after that,his family started getting threatening messages demanding ransom of ₹50 lakh,claiming he had been abducted.
And those messages were not casual threats also . They reportedly warned family not to contact authorities and threatened severe consequences if they did . So naturally,panic started building fast at home.
Then one video also surfaced showing Jignesh appearing tied up . That made relatives believe kidnapping was real only,because who will think someone may create such scene with own family ah.
But police started noticing inconsistencies during investigation . Something was not fitting properly,and that is where suspicion slowly shifted from kidnapping case to possible staged drama.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Massive police search operation was launched using CCTV footage and local intelligence.
- Jignesh was found safe in hotel at Godhra on June 15 .
- Police said he staged kidnapping after losing ₹50-60 lakh in stock market options .
On June 15,police located him at hotel in Godhra and found him safe,unharmed . During questioning,he reportedly confessed that entire kidnapping plot was planned by him because of financial troubles linked to trading losses.
According to police,Jignesh had entered options trading hoping to make quick profits,but instead suffered heavy losses . Surat's Deputy Commissioner of Police,Alok Kumar Jhala,said investigation showed his financial problems were at center of this hoax.
After confession,Jignesh was charged under multiple sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for providing false information and fabricating evidence . And tbh,this part feels even more disturbing because one fake kidnapping triggered full police operation and put family through mental torture .
This whole incident shows how badly financial pressure and risky trading can push someone into desperate thinking . But still,using own family fear like this… what kind of pressure makes person cross that line…
