Just read this report about Pakistan beaming unauthorized cellular signals into Jammu and Kashmir and honestly,it's quite disturbing. This isn't some accident,it's being done specifically to help terrorist groups.
Officials are saying Pakistan is breaking international telecom rules by doing this . They have put up so many telecom towers in PoK and now the signals are flooding into our side, mainly targeting Jammu region.
And the worst part is where these signals are reaching . They are penetrating sensitive areas, including jails that are holding hardcore terrorists. This is a massive security risk, not small thing ah . Smuggled phones inside prisons are now working easily because of these signals .
Apparently the geography of the place is also helping them . flat terrain of Jammu plains makes it very easy for these signals to travel long distances without any block.
And this is where it gets really concerning .
The traditional jammers that we have in place are proving to be completely ineffective against this new problem . terrorists are still able to communicate without any issue. It's like our current tech is just not good enough for this fight rn.
Some key points from report:
- Unauthorized signal transmission — Pakistan's telecom signals violate international norms.
- Increased security risks — Signals penetrate sensitive areas, including jails.
- Need for advanced technology — Current jammers are ineffective against sophisticated communication methods.
But it's not just simple phone calls . These terrorist outfits are using very sophisticated communication tech, like encrypted systems to talk to their handlers across border. They are even using Code-Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology which was developed by a Chinese firm, making it more complex for our agencies to monitor.
So now officials are pushing for next-generation technology . They need systems that can pinpoint and block these specific illegal signals in certain zones only, instead of using old static jammers that disrupt civilian communication too.
This whole situation just shows how the threat is changing . It’s not just about guns and borders anymore,it's becoming a technology war… and you have to wonder if we are adapting fast enough to keep up .
