Naadhabrahmam United Gyan Academi celebrated its 25th anniversary on June 21 by honoring Carnatic vocalist S. Kanmony with title of ‘Naadha Vinodhini’.
The event also happened on International Music and Yoga Day,which made whole thing feel more connected to arts and inner discipline . Music and yoga together on same day only, not small thing ah.
R. Seshasayee, the Chairman of Asian Paints, presented award to Kanmony and spoke about her achievements with lot of admiration . What stood out more was how he connected her success with challenges she faced due to her disability.
And that one line from him really stays in mind: “How many of us can achieve this?” Because sometimes we casually clap for artists, but we don’t think about years of practice, struggle and personal battles behind stage.
Few things clearly stood out from event:
- Naadhabrahmam United Gyan Academi marked its 25th anniversary on June 21 .
- S. Kanmony received title of ‘Naadha Vinodhini’.
- Event coincided with International Music and Yoga Day.
Kanmony’s journey itself is quite inspiring . She is not just Carnatic vocalist, but also teacher and researcher . She has performed over 500 concerts and has received national award for her contributions to music.
Upon receiving award,Kanmony expressed deep gratitude and mentioned support of her family and mentors . And honestly, her point that this recognition is not merely accolade, but responsibility, says lot about how seriously she takes her art.
N. Subramanian, founder of Naadhabrahmam, also addressed gathering and spoke with pride about academy’s growth and impact over past 25 years . These kinds of institutions quietly keep classical music alive while bigger noise happens elsewhere.
But at same time,it makes you think also… how many artists like Kanmony are there, working silently for years, waiting for society to notice their music and their struggle…
