Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on June 22,2026 that talks with United States have made “major progress”,and that itself is not small thing ah.
And this came through joint statement by mediators Pakistan and Qatar . Both sides have reportedly agreed on roadmap to try and finalize peace deal within 60 days . Sounds hopeful on paper,but with this kind of conflict,nothing is simple .
Talks happened at Lake Lucerne Summit in Switzerland,where high-level people from both sides were present . U.S. delegation was led by Vice President J.D . Vance,with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff also involved . From Iranian side,Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Abbas Araghchi led talks.
And honestly,this is where situation feels serious because they were not just doing symbolic meeting . They discussed peace terms,stopping military operations in region,and also technical discussions that are expected to follow.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Creation of de-confliction cell is aimed at preventing military operations in Lebanon .
- Roadmap for peace gives negotiators 60 days to reach final deal.
- Major concessions include lifting of blockades and release of frozen assets for Iran.
Araghchi sounded optimistic and said mediation by Pakistan and Qatar has brought “major progress” toward peace . If this actually moves ahead,it could reduce hostilities and open door for reconstruction efforts in region.
But tbh,there is still lot of tension around it . Iranian government is hoping these negotiations will help in lifting economic sanctions and bring some stability in West Asia,but pressure is coming from many sides .
At same time,U.S. President Donald Trump has continued to issue threats against Iran,and that obviously makes whole process more complicated . Negotiators were reportedly preparing to work through night,while handling domestic and international pressure together.
And that de-confliction cell for Lebanon may help reduce immediate military tension,but whether these promises survive real politics,anger and distrust after so much damage… that question is still hanging.
