Hyderabad Residents Face Potential Voter Deletions Amid Enumeration Process

As Hyderabad prepares for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls beginning June 25, residents who have shifted homes may face deletions from the voter list. The enumeration process could result in a significant reduction of registered voters as officials focus on updating records. With many residents moving but not re-registering, the draft electoral rolls may see a decrease, impacting upcoming elections. Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy emphasized the importance of proactive registration to avoid deletions.

Key Takeaways

  • Hyderabad faces risk of voter deletions in SIR
  • Enumeration starts June 25 and lasts a month
  • Residents urged to proactively register to retain votes

Hyderabad voters may have one real headache coming up,and honestly, this is not small thing ah . With Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls starting on June 25,2026,people who shifted houses but never updated voter registration could suddenly find their names in trouble.

This is especially serious because current rolls already show low participation rate of 46.69% . So if many names get deleted now, city voter list may shrink even more before next elections.

Chief Electoral Officer,C . Sudarshan Reddy has said many residents who moved from old address may not have re-registered at new place . And that one small pending update can now become reason for losing voting rights .

And this is where process becomes tricky .

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will visit households for one month to collect and distribute enumeration forms . But they will visit electors listed at their respective polling stations only . Means if you shifted to another area but name is still at old polling station,BLO may never come to your new house.

Few things standing out clearly here:

  • Special Intensive Revision (SIR) begins on June 25, 2026 .
  • Enumeration will last for one month .
  • Voters who do not update addresses may lose voting rights.

During visit,BLOs will mark absent, deceased,or shifted voters separately . If voter has moved and is not present at old address, that person can be marked as ‘shifted’ . And once that happens, removal from draft electoral rolls becomes very possible.

Tbh,this sounds like one of those government processes where problem is not always intention, but awareness . Many people in Hyderabad are migrants from other districts or states, and some may still prefer keeping voting rights in native villages instead of registering again in Hyderabad.

Also, with no elections immediately near, many residents may not feel urgency to approach BLOs and submit fresh forms . But Sudarshan Reddy has clearly said there will be no extensions for SIR process, and names of people who do not submit enumeration forms will be deleted from draft electoral rolls.

Enumeration forms will be printed in English too, after requests from various political parties . That may help some people, but main issue is still same only — will shifted voters even know they have to act before their name disappears…

And if they don’t,how many Hyderabad residents will realise problem only when election time comes…
