After nearly two years of waiting,House of the Dragon Season 3 finally came out on June 22,2026 and honestly,makers did not waste time easing anyone in . First episode only went straight into chaos with Battle of the Gullet,and it felt like show wanted to remind viewers that nobody is safe here.
And for Indian viewers,this thing premiered at 6:30 AM IST,which is already crazy because people literally started morning with dragons,death and sea battle . Not small thing ah.
The season opener had that full tense feeling where every few minutes,something worse was happening. Tyland Lannister ended up in serious danger during dragon battle,but Moondancer saved him . Then wild dragon Sheepstealer arrived and made situation even more messy by attacking both factions,so even clear sides started feeling confused .
But then Commander Sharako Lohar ordering burning of High Tide was another nasty turn . That was not just war strategy,it was clearly aimed at hurting Corlys Velaryon emotionally,and that kind of move changes whole mood of conflict.
Few things standing out from this premiere:
- Jace Velaryon's tragic death came after his grief pushed him toward vengeance.
- Team Black technically won,but losses made victory feel very expensive.
- Episode moved away from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood in some character fates .
And tbh,the most painful moment was Jacaerys Velaryon dying in such brutal way . His need to avenge his younger brother pulled him directly into battle,and once Vermax was struck down,both dragon and rider fell into sea . For second,it looked like maybe Jace survived crash,but enemy archers ended that hope fast .
Team Black may have emerged victorious,but this was not clean win at all . Velaryon fleet suffered near 30 percent casualties,and losses on both sides made Battle of the Gullet feel more like disaster than triumph.
There were also some major changes from George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood,especially around Sharako Lohar and Jason Lannister . Their endings are different from source material,and that is going to create lot of debate among book readers for sure.
Now new episodes are slated to release weekly,and premiere has already set up intrigue,loss and shifting allegiances in very heavy way . But after Jace going out like this,one question keeps hanging… how much more can Team Black lose before victory starts looking meaningless…
