Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) has now demanded President's rule in West Bengal after violent attacks against opposition MPs,and that is not small thing ah.
And this demand came through editorial in Saamana,where party strongly condemned attack on Abhishek Banerjee,National General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress and sitting MP . Editorial called attack cowardly and brutal,and tone was clearly angry.
But what makes whole thing more serious is that over past few days,incidents in Kolkata have raised big questions about law and order situation . Shiv Sena is saying West Bengal,which was once seen as one of India's most civilized states,has now started looking like place of violence and mobocracy .
And tbh,this is where politics becomes very uncomfortable . Editorial accused ruling BJP of using electoral mandate not for public welfare,but for political vendetta against opposition leaders . That is direct allegation,not soft criticism.
It also said that if such attacks had happened during tenure of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee,Governor would have quickly recommended President’s rule to Central government . Basically,Shiv Sena is asking why same urgency is missing now.
According to editorial,stones were hurled at Abhishek Banerjee and one stone narrowly missed his head because he was wearing helmet . That detail itself sounds scary because this is sitting MP we are talking about,not some random street fight.

But Shiv Sena is also pushing back against idea that public has turned against Mamata Banerjee and her party . Their argument is that this violence is not public anger,but planned fear tactic to either break Trinamool Congress or create intimidation across West Bengal.
And now demand is clear: restore order,fix law and order situation,and impose President's rule if needed to protect democracy in region . But bigger question still hangs there… if elected representatives themselves are not feeling safe,then what message is going to ordinary people?
