So Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has bagged one really big contract ah . The amount is huge, almost ₹967.93 crore from East Coast Railway . This is a pretty major development for railway infrastructure in that region.
And this is not just some small project . It's for building several important railway bridges to help with a big railway line expansion. The whole thing will be done on an EPC basis, which basically means they handle everything from start to finish.
This whole effort is focused on the railway capacity between Nergundi-Barang and the Khurda Road-Vizianagaram section . Anyone who travels on that route knows how crucial it is for both freight trains and passenger trains.
Under this plan,RVNL is going to build four major bridges over some big rivers - Birupa,Mahanadi,Kathjori, and Kuakhai . They are using something called open-web steel girders, which are supposed to be very strong for handling more train traffic.
And honestly, this kind of infra upgrade is what we need rn.
Few key things to note here:
- Total contract value is ₹967.93 crore, and this includes 18% GST.
- Project timeline is set for 1,095 days,so basically around three years .
- Main goal is to improve connectivity for both goods and passenger services .
But it seems like a straightforward deal . RVNL has also told everyone that this order was received in normal course of business and there are no related-party transactions involved, which is good for transparency.
This project is part of that larger push we are seeing to upgrade India's entire railway network . For RVNL,this is a big boost to their order book and their reputation as top player in building railway infra .
The company is obviously aiming to get this done efficiently . When these bridges are completed,it should really help with the growing demand for better transportation .
But three years is a long time for such a big project . So many things can happen, and hopefully they can stick to timeline without big delays…
