Okay, so there's this whole big political storm brewing in Uttarakhand right now, and honestly, when you hear the details, it’s pretty unsettling. The Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, has really been hammering the government, demanding action over an incident involving Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. He's pushing hard for an FIR to be filed under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The controversy is all centered around a "shuddhikaran havan," which is a purification ritual, that took place at a public ground in Haldwani after Kharge addressed a rally there.
Rahul Gandhi went straight to X and really let loose. He expressed his outrage in these exact words: "देश के हर दलित व्यक्ति का जन्म से मृत्यु तक, हर जगह, हर कदम अपमान किया जाता है।
It really makes you pause, doesn't it? To think that in this day and age, we're still talking about acts that evoke the painful history of untouchability.
He further directed his comments toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting that the sheer lack of action on this matter reflects a specific political ideology. Gandhi pointed out that it had been 20 days since the incident occurred, and yet, no formal charges had been filed.
The Congress party has made it very clear that they are not going to let this matter rest until justice is served. Rahul Gandhi even issued a warning, saying that if the BJP-led administration doesn't act swiftly, his party is prepared to pursue other means to ensure accountability.
