And this is not just two-three companies making noise. Coalition has 112 companies from areas like industrial goods,healthcare and retail,representing around $1.5 trillion in annual revenue . That is not small thing ah .
Their main point is simple. Governments worldwide should put electrification at centre of economic strategies,because fossil fuel markets are too unstable now . One geopolitical tension somewhere,and energy prices start jumping,supply chains get disturbed,and industries suddenly start feeling pressure .
But what stands out is how direct this message is . Companies including Iberdrola ,Volvo Cars ,and Uber are saying electrification is not just good for climate,it is needed for economic health of nations . That framing matters because governments usually react faster when money,security and competitiveness are involved .
Few things clearly coming out from this initiative:

- Around 90% of business leaders expect their operations to be largely electrified within next decade.
- Push comes as London Climate Action Week begins,with over 75,000 participants expected .
And tbh,government role is biggest question here. Companies are asking for predictable policy frameworks and major investment in grid infrastructure,because without stronger grids,this whole electrification talk can remain stuck on paper only.
At same time,they are also saying many technologies needed for sectors like transportation and heavy industry are already commercially viable today . So argument is not that world has to wait for some magical future invention. It is more like tools are there,but systems and policies are still catching up .
This whole thing is also happening while world is moving toward COP31 in Turkey this November. There is already talk around electricity accounting for 35% of total energy demand by 2035,and this corporate push fits into that bigger direction.
But still,one uncomfortable question stays. If companies are ready,technologies are ready,and fossil fuel risks are already visible,then how long will governments keep treating electrification like future plan instead of present pressure…
