Just saw this interview with Manoj Bajpayee and honestly,it was quite refreshing to hear his take on current situation. With everything going on globally,he seems really optimistic about India's future.
He was speaking to IANS while promoting his new film,Governor . And he directly addressed the big issues, like the global conflicts and blockade at Strait of Hormuz that is making fuel prices go crazy everywhere .
But he truly believes that despite all this,India and its people will come out stronger. He pointed to our history of being resilient. He even said,"If Sri Lanka can come out of a huge crisis where there were people on the road, look at Nepal, what happened there. If these small countries can manage and sort things out,so can India."
And this is a very interesting point ah . We see so much negative news daily,it’s easy to forget that we have handled massive problems before.
Few things standing out from his talk:
- He pointed to India's past resilience, like surviving the 2008 global recession .
- His upcoming film Governor itself is about economic crisis, specifically the 1991 meltdown.
- He has huge faith in the unique ability of Indian people to ration and adjust during tough times.
The film Governor sounds like it's connected to all this thinking. It’s inspired by true events around 1991 economic crisis and the role of Rashtriya Bank of India Governor,S. Venkitaramanan . So he has clearly been thinking about how a country navigates financial turmoil.
And I think his main point is not about government or policies only . It's about the people. He said,"As a countryman,I have faith, especially in the strength of the people here, and their patience."
Tbh,that’s a nice thing to hear from someone like him.
The movie is set to release on June 12,2026,and it promises to be a story about our economic history and that same spirit he is talking about.
It’s one thing to have faith, but with currency depreciating against Dollar and oil prices affecting daily life for everyone, you do wonder how much people can actually take…
