This is exactly why ceasefire news from region feels so shaky sometimes . Less than 24 hours after ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah was established,Israeli airstrikes have reportedly killed at least 11 people in southern Lebanon. And honestly, that is not small thing ah.
Lebanese state news agency confirmed casualties after series of attacks by Israeli warplanes, drones, and artillery. Many locations were targeted, especially around city of Nabatieh . So on paper there was ceasefire, but on ground people were still hearing blasts.
Israel’s military said strikes were aimed at Hezbollah targets. Their side says this came after Hezbollah earlier launched over 50 projectiles into Israeli territories. So both sides are already blaming each other within one day only, and civilians again are stuck in middle .
And tbh, this is where situation starts feeling very dangerous. After months of relative calm, renewed hostilities are again pulling Lebanon deeper into broader conflict between U.S . and Iran, especially after assassination of Iran's supreme leader.
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed at least 11 people in southern Lebanon.
- Hezbollah had earlier launched over 50 projectiles into Israeli territories .
- Continued violence has left around million people displaced in Lebanon .
The United States has openly criticised Israel’s military operations, with concern that these actions can disturb fragile peace deal with Iran . That deal is supposed to halt hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, but rn situation looks anything but stable .
U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff is reportedly going to Switzerland for talks with Iran. That itself shows how urgently everyone is trying to stop this from spreading further, because once Lebanon front fully heats up,things can move out of control very fast.
At same time,Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing serious domestic pressure to keep military pressure on Hezbollah. Inside Israel, many are demanding hard action because Hezbollah has close ties to Iran and plays big role in regional conflict.
Hezbollah has also warned that if Israel’s military incursions continue,it will retaliate . So one side strikes, other side responds, then first side says it is counteraction… and civilians keep paying price in between.
And that is real uncomfortable part here . Ceasefire was announced, but violence came back almost immediately . If this is how first 24 hours look, then what exactly is left of that peace effort…
