On October 19, the Gadchiroli Police executed a successful operation leading to the seizure of 400 bottles of country liquor. This operation took place on the Gadchiroli-Chandrapur road following a tip-off received by the police about illicit activities in the area. The liquor was cleverly concealed within the fuel tanks and seats of two motorcycles, demonstrating the lengths to which traffickers go to evade law enforcement.
The operation was initiated near the Wainganga River. Upon intercepting the motorcycles, police conducted a thorough search that led to the discovery of the concealed liquor. The total estimated value of the seized items is around ₹2.32 lakh, underscoring the significant illegal liquor trade in the region.
- Two booked — Two men, aged 32 and 19, were booked in connection with the seizure.
- Maharashtra Prohibition Act — The individuals were booked under this act, which regulates the sale and consumption of alcohol.
The Maharashtra Police have been vigilant in tackling illegal liquor operations, which pose serious health risks to the community. The law prohibits the production, sale, and consumption of alcohol in certain areas, and authorities are determined to uphold these regulations. The successful seizure reflects the police's commitment to ensuring public safety and compliance with the law.
As the fight against illegal liquor trade continues, local residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The police are keen on maintaining a safe environment and reducing the prevalence of illegal substances in their jurisdiction. This recent seizure is a testament to the effectiveness of community cooperation and police diligence in combating crime in Gadchiroli.
