This FDA fake medicine racket story is honestly very disturbing because this is not about some small cheating case . Medicines are something people trust blindly, especially when doctor or medical store gives them . And now Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has found counterfeit drug network spread across Maharashtra,Madhya Pradesh,Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab .
According to investigation, fake allopathic medicines and adulterated Ayurvedic products were being pushed into market . Legal proceedings have already started against 12 individuals and entities after counterfeit drugs like Chymoral Forte came under scanner .
And Chymoral Forte part is seriously worrying . This medicine is widely used as anti-inflammatory,but fake versions were reportedly found being sold in Nagpur . Samples from local medical stores and wholesalers were tested at state laboratory in Mumbai, and enzyme activity levels were found far below standard requirements .
Original manufacturer later confirmed that seized products were never produced by them . Means people may have been buying something thinking it is real medicine, but actually it was counterfeit only . That is not small thing ah.
Few things standing out clearly in this case:
- Counterfeit Chymoral Forte was found in Nagpur after samples were tested at state laboratory in Mumbai .
- Kamraj Capsules, marketed as health supplement, were found to contain Tadalafil and Paracetamol without label disclosure.
- Criminal cases have been registered against involved companies and individuals.
But Kamraj Capsules angle makes whole matter even more risky . FDA found Tadalafil and Paracetamol inside these capsules, while label did not disclose them at all . Health experts have warned that hidden Tadalafil can create serious risk, especially for people already having health problems.
FDA officials have said distribution of counterfeit, adulterated, and substandard medicines is direct threat to public health . They are ready to take further action under Drugs and Cosmetics Act,1940,and newly enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),2023 .
FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe also said department follows “zero-tolerance” policy towards fake medicines and promised strict action against those who put public health in danger . And tbh, this kind of action is needed because fake medicine racket can damage trust in entire healthcare system .
What feels scary is simple thing: how many people may have already consumed these products without knowing what was inside? Medical store counter, strip of tablets, health supplement bottle… people usually don’t question all this, and that is where this whole issue becomes even more uncomfortable…
